Sharp Grossman Hospital Features State-of-the-Art Level III NICU

An accomplished San Diego, CA-based real estate developer, Elliot Feuerstein has managed multiple shopping center developments. Also an active community leader, Elliot Feuerstein assisted with fundraising efforts for the Mary Birch Women’s Health Center at Sharp Hospital in San Diego, CA.

Sharp Hospital’s Women’s Health Center features a Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) that provides high-level care to up to 24 newborns that require extra attention. In addition to specialized medical care and neonatal ventilators, the Sharp NICU offers a family-centered environment that invites parents to participate in health care decisions for their child.

Other ways the hospital ensures the highest level of care for infants is by supporting exclusive breastfeeding as well as prioritizing skin-to-skin contact between parents and baby. Nurses specially trained in developmental care help to support optimal brain and physical development for premature infants. The NICU also offers a secure online video system called NICVIEW to let parents view their baby even when they are away from the hospital.

About Elliot Feuerstein

An officer of Arnold Construction Company in San Diego for more than three decades, Elliot Feuerstein initially focused on the development, operation, and disposition of the Mesa Shopping Center. Elliot Feuerstein also developed and successfully sold the Mira Mesa Shopping Center, which featured major tenants such as Vons, Mervyn’s, and Union Bank.

Since the early 1980s, Mr. Feuerstein has engaged in operating a variety of shopping centers, including the Mira Mesa Shopping Center-West, which features Target, Big 5 Sporting Goods, and Payless ShoeSource. In developing projects, he engages with architects in designs and works with the city in obtaining necessary approvals. He also coordinates with contractors throughout the building process and maintains financing relationships with lenders.

He completed his bachelor’s degree in political science at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1970. While an undergraduate, he took part as a crew member in the TransPac sailboat race from Los Angeles to Hawaii and achieved a third-place finish in Class B. A longstanding member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), Elliot Feuerstein has attended various trade shows throughout the years.
