Sharp Hospital Debuts Heart and Vascular Treatment Wing


Currently the managing officer of Mira Mesa and other multi-tenant shopping centers, Elliot Feuerstein is an accomplished real estate developer in the area of San Diego, CA. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Elliot Feuerstein is committed to community service. He served on the fundraising committee for Sharp Hospital’s Women’s Health Center in San Diego, CA.

In addition to a state-of-the-art women’s center, Sharp Hospital is home to a new 60,000-square-foot Heart and Vascular Center. Sharp has long been known as the hospital that deals with the state’s largest workload relating to severe heart attacks. Its new $99 million heart and vascular treatment wing includes four cardiac catheterization suites and four operating rooms, whose hybrid features allow surgeons to transition between non-invasive and invasive surgery if necessary.

Part of the funding for the new vascular wing comes from a $247 million infrastructure bond known as Proposition G that San Diego voters approved in the year 2006. In addition, Ed and Sandy Burr of La Mesa, who own EDCO, generously donated $5 million toward the project.

Sharp Hospital Features Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center

In addition to a state-of-the-art women’s and childbirth center, Sharp Hospital features a nationally recognized rehabilitation center with a staff focused on helping patients regain their strength and independence after surgery or injury. The multidisciplinary rehab team guides each patient through the recovery process, from the acute-care setting, to inpatient rehabilitation, to outpatient care, then home.

Customized therapy services offered at Sharp Hospital include neurological and stroke rehabilitation; physical, occupational, hand, and speech therapy; a Parkinson’s disease treatment program; and a balance and vestibular program. Additionally, the rehab program offers recreational therapy options, including aquatic therapy classes, to get patients active again.

Sharp Hospital Women's Center Offers Infant and Child CPR Classes


Elliot Feuerstein is an accomplished real estate developer and manager of several shopping centers. A philanthropist and civic leader, Elliot Feuerstein worked on the fundraising committee for the Women’s Health Center at Sharp Hospital in San Diego, CA. His children were born at Sharp Hospital and he has been honored to help raise funds for its continued service to the residents of San Diego.

The Sharp Hospital Women’s Health Center offers infant and child CPR classes twice a month at a cost of $20 for community members. Intended for parents, grandparents, babysitters, and daycare providers, the course covers life support skills to assist infants and children up to 7 years of age who are choking or experiencing breathing difficulties or heart problems.

Following the American Heart Association curriculum, participants in the course watch a video and then get hands-on CPR practice on a mannequin. Although no test or credential is given, students learn proper techniques through instructor feedback. For more information, visit www.sharp.com.
