Congregation Beth Israel’s “New to Judaism” program was established to educate new converts and their children and spouses. The program offers a bi-monthly “Introduction to Judaism: Fundamentals of Belief and Practice” workshop that explains some of the basic principles of the religion.
Led by rabbis from Congregation Beth Israel, the course discusses the prayer rituals, the history of the Jewish faith, the origin of its Holy Days, the land of Israel, and religious books such as the Torah. The course is mandatory for people seeking to join the Jewish faith, for congregation members preparing for B’nai Mitzvah, and for interfaith couples who will be holding their marriage ceremony at Congregation Beth Israel.
